Rate, Calculate, and Process Nano"charges"

Micro"billing" and micro"payment" debates have raged on for years. RevX has a proven micro and nano"charging" solution which permits the monetization of services and subscriber events using an evolved prepaid, postpaid, and credit managed subscriber model allowing for micro and nano currency transactions.
RevX NanoCharges

"The RevX solution is the world's only application which provides both micro and nano currency transaction processing which allows you to price subscription services as low as 1/10,000 of a penny per billable event."

SUBSCRIBER MODELS

  • Prepaid Accounts - as subscribers accumulate micro and nano "charges" related to service utilization, these fees will accumulate within their account thus consuming any prepaid funds or otherwise credit balances.

This model is very popular and is analogous to the XBox Live Community whereby currency is converted to prepaid points which are spent on various implements within the XBox Marketplace.

  • Postpaid Accounts - the simplest of all micro and nano "charge" models. Postpaid subscribers are charged an accumulated value of all micro and nano "charges" within a given billing cycle.

A cellular phone bill is the best example of this consumer experience. A carrier wouldn't send a bill for a single $0.05 phone call. Instead, the carrier expects the subscriber will accumulate charges in addition to the base service fee which makes the collection of those subscriber fees more financially sensible.

  • Credit Accounts - Credit accounts are an evolution of the post-paid model with some constraints. A subscriber is granted a credit line against which a balance can be metered. When the balance exceeds the credit line, a replenishment operation is performed thus refilling the subscribers account with more available funds to allow continued use of services. If the account cannot be replenished, the service provide can elect to suspend the subscriber until the credit violation is resolved.

To illustrate, Micro and Nano Billing models supported by RevX Services:

  • The iTunes model – charges accumulate in a customer account and are charged periodically to a credit card.

  • The Toll Road model - prepayments are maintained as a credit and real time charges reduce the prepaid amount until a pre-set threshold is triggered. The account is then replenished automatically or an email sent to the customer requesting they visit the self care portal to replenish their account.

  • Virtual Tokens – service providers can offer their own form of micro currency; for example, Xbox Live Marketplace uses "Microsoft Points", which can only be spent in the Xbox Live Marketplace. One advantage of using micro currency is that no financial transaction occurs when a consumer spends points; money is paid up front in a single transaction.

  • Ad Credits - the ability to track consumer ad views and rate the views to a rate table based on time of day, day of week, total time watched, event etc.. Credits are applied as a credit for past r future content or services.

  • Ad Charges – apply a real time micro charge to an advertiser’s account based on actual utilization of ad presented. Rate tables can be flat, volumetric, table or formula driven.
