Flexibility to capitalize on new opportunities, react to competitive developments, and address new pricing or billing requirements. RevX lets you monetize any M2M or Internet of Things offering with a simple-to-use, fully automated system that ensures accurate and timely billing.

Charging (also known as rating)

The RevX Rating engine provides a comprehensive business-rules authoring and runtime environment to prepare pricing rules based on "any" unit of measure (carrier data plans, number of turns of a machine, data stored, and so on). The platform can process network and usage from any client application in real time to calculate billing, monitor policy, or for reporting purposes.

Define any unit of measure without the need to involve programming or even technical resources. The RevX Rating engine delivers the highest levels of performance and protection against system failure or revenue leakage.

Feature spotlight

  • Pooled data and usage billing — RevX supports data pooling where the MRC covers a set allowance and overages are charged in the aggregate across all lines. For example, a customer with twenty 1 GB data lines at $14 per GB/mo. is not charged an overage unless the pool exceeds 20 GB.
  • Volumetric rules — define business rules that address graduated pricing, where a subscriber may be charged more or less as usage increases. For example, $1.00 for the first 25 MB, $0.75 for the second 25 MB, and $0.50 for every 1 MB thereafter.
  • Tiered rules — especially useful for modeling package pricing based on a fixed price table. For example, $5.00 per MB for 1–25 MB, $7.50 per MB for 26–75 MB, and $10.00 per MB above 75 MB.
  • Percentage rules — when usage events represent point-of-sale transactions, calculate fees as a percentage of the transaction (revenue share). For example, 7% for every dollar between $1.00 and $25.00, and 4% for every dollar above $25.00.
  • Custom rules — new billing rule types can be added to the system to extend its capabilities as part of the documented delivery.
Billing

Manages complex business partnerships, multiple business units, and the bill-processing functions of your back office. The RevX Billing system provides all the features of a carrier-grade billing solution and more. Unlike solutions that evolved from the telco space, RevX Billing was designed from the beginning to address the complex needs of billing for any type of e-service, for almost any industry.

Feature spotlight

  • Bundled services — arrange top-selling services into packages to offer promotional pricing, free trial periods, and special discounts and premiums.
  • Invoice generation — from invoice design and customized marketing messages through aggregating transactional detail into a single invoice, presented for payment via:
    • Email
    • SMS text messaging
    • Hardcopy (in-house or third party)
    • Online via self-care
  • Sales commission tracking — track commissions due to sales reps on subscriber purchases. Deferred compensation, percentage-based bounties, and flat-rate fees are all supported.
  • Master bill-to accounts (N-tier) — a billing model that allows parent/child relationships between subscribers without hierarchical limitations.
  • Syndication — a powerful model that lets unlimited distinct business lines be managed by a single installation, with data logically separated through the Security Manager features of the RevX Service Delivery Platform.
  • General ledger integration — track revenue by GL account for seamless integration into a general ledger system. Summary or detailed information can be shared with downstream systems.
Customer and subscriber management

Maintain a unified view of customers, partners, subscriptions, devices, entitlements, invoices, payments, and account activity. Support individual subscribers as well as complex parent-child and multi-location account structures.

Manage subscription and partner relationships with an integrated CRM designed to address customer billing inquiries, service issues, or refunds, while empowering the call-center representative to cross-sell additional services or offer upgrades.

The RevX CRM module helps call-center staff resolve customer billing or service-acquisition questions immediately over the phone. It does not overlap or replace your organization's existing CRM system; rather, it specifically addresses service and billing matters with your subscribers.

Key benefits

  • Subscriber maintenance — perform maintenance functions on behalf of a subscriber when they elect to call rather than self-manage their account online.
  • Device management — manage profile, current carrier status, rate plan, and threshold alerts for individual devices within a customer or account relationship.
  • Billing information — when subscribers need to update billing information and choose to call rather than self-manage, the CSR can perform these updates on their behalf.
  • Suspension / reactivation — in the event of non-payment or failed credit-card processing, an account can be automatically or manually suspended. With an integrated network, all services are disabled so the subscriber can no longer use them.
  • User maintenance — a subscriber can create one or more users within their account, most commonly for a household or SMB.
  • Password reset — subscribers can request a password reset if they don't know their secret-answer response.

Feature spotlight

  • Report generation — reports can be generated for various display devices such as cell phones, email clients, mobile devices, and graphical displays, letting the author optimize the arrangement of information for a given target device.
  • Report authoring — the reporting system uses XML as its definition language and provides an open solution on which any style of report can be added without programming resources.
  • Data security — a strict data-access layer ensures user-level access is restricted to authorized fields in the database.
  • Data exports — reports can be written to extract any data from the RevX database, enabling data mining with tools like Microsoft Excel.
  • Scheduled reports — reports can be scheduled to run at regular intervals.
